Entrance

There are two entrances to the Alhambra, one for groups and one for regular visitors, but they are very close to each other and are very well indicated. Please be aware that the Alhambra is on top of a hill, so it is recommended to use the official parking near the entrance. If you want to walk there, there are two options: a steeper but shorter road from the north, and a longer but easier road from the south.

Food

Inside the Alhambra, you’ll find a café and small kiosks for quick snacks and drinks. For a proper meal, head just outside to Plaza Nueva or the Albaicín, where tapas bars and restaurants serve local dishes and regional wines.

FAQs and tips

How can I purchase tickets for the Alhambra online?

Tickets can be purchased online through the official Alhambra website or trusted partners. The online system allows visitors to select specific time slots for entry to the Nasrid Palaces.

Email inquiries can be sent to informacion.alhambra.pag@juntadeandalucia.es for additional assistance.

Can tickets for the Alhambra be bought on the day of the visit?

Tickets can be purchased at the monument's ticket office on the day of visit, though this option is not recommended. Same-day availability is extremely limited due to high demand.

The Alhambra frequently sells out weeks or months in advance. Visitors planning same-day purchases should arrive very early and expect potential disappointment.

Is it possible to visit the Alhambra without a tour guide?

Self-guided visits are permitted and common at the Alhambra. Visitors can explore the complex independently using their tickets and personal pace.

Audio guides and informational materials are available for those who prefer structured information without a live guide. The ticket grants access to all designated areas regardless of whether visitors choose guided or independent exploration.

Are last-minute tickets available for the Alhambra, and how can I get them?

Last-minute tickets occasionally become available through cancellations or returned reservations. The official website or third-party vendors may release these tickets without advance notice.

Visitors can check the official booking system regularly for sudden availability.

What are the best strategies for securing a ticket to the Alhambra when they are sold out?

Checking the official website and trusted third-party vendors often increases chances of finding cancelled tickets that return to availability. Early morning and late evening checks often yield better results.

Visitors should consider alternative ticket types such as night visits or the Dobla de Oro when general admission is unavailable. Booking accommodations that include Alhambra tickets can provide another avenue for access.
